Kubota hydraulic fluid question

For a Kubota compact track loader, how are you guys verifying an equivalent hydraulic oil when the exact OEM fluid isn't available? Seems like model and manual spec matter more than the brand on the pail.

Match the manual's hydraulic fluid spec and approvals, not just an ISO number on the pail. Mixing history matters too.

If it’s a high-flow machine, check that the manual section for that configuration matches the oil you’re considering. The drive units may use a different oil than the hydraulic system, so don’t go by the hydraulic spec for both.

Big difference between topping it off and doing a full change. If the oil already in it is unknown or might be mixed, I wouldn't assume a universal hydraulic oil is close enough just because the viscosity looks right. Better to identify what's in there first, or change it out and start fresh with the spec the manual calls for.
