JD24 or JD24-A drive issue

Trying to sort out a movement/steering problem on an older Deere skid steer. What's the quickest way to confirm whether it's a JD24 or a JD24-A before digging into the drive system?

The plate should settle it, but get the whole model and PIN off it, not just the 24 stamp. Deere can cross-reference that to the right parts book

Once the model is nailed down, note whether it’s one side or both, and whether it acts up the same in forward and reverse. That split narrows the drive side fast.

Normal loader operation doesn't rule out a drive or steering problem. The 24 and 24-A use different drive setups, so the correct manual matters before any adjustments or pressure checks.

If a side feels mechanically tight or locked, stop running it and inspect the brake and final-drive parts before any adjustments.
