New Holland hydraulic fluid by model

The generic hydraulic oils on the shelf make this harder than it ought to be. What are you guys using to pin down the correct fluid and CNH spec for a New Holland skid steer when the model and serial range aren't known yet?

I’d hold off buying fluid until the serial plate is found. The operator manual for that serial range is the safe place to get the CNH spec, since the shelf label claiming universal doesn’t prove it meets that requirement.

Also make sure the manual section is for the hydraulic system. Final drive oil can be a separate spec, so one universal fluid label may not cover both

Once the manual gives the CNH/MAT spec, match that exact spec against the fluid maker's data sheet or jug label. Viscosity by itself isn't enough, and wording like suitable for isn't the same as an actual listed approval or specification match.
