Overheat alarm with normal temp

When an intermittent overheat alarm comes on but the temperature looks normal, how are you pinning down whether it’s coolant, hydraulic oil, or an electrical input issue?

Pull live data if the machine supports it. If coolant and hydraulic temps are both normal when the alarm trips, that points more at a sensor, wiring, or connector than actual heat.

Compare the dash temp to the ECU live reading. If the dash is normal but the ECU value jumps around, that narrows it to the sender circuit or its connector.
